A Country Girl's Writing

Here is a fun little adventure I had last night.  I opened the door. Dusk had just started to fade away into a grayish black. I had left my backpack in the car and needed something in it. I took five steps outside. Just enough to be off the stairs and on the path to the car. The car was only 15 feet away and I knew that there was nothing to be afraid of, but I still had that cautious air about me. I was just about to take another step when some branches broke in the woods. In a blink of an eye I was back in the house peaking my head around the door. Just in case I see the thing that might be lurking in the dark just outside of my sight. A few more sticks broke, than a few more. I waited a few more minutes using the door as a shield. I debated in my head whether or not I should venture out into the almost dark outside. I decided the best place for me was in the house until morning comes. I closed the door locked it, praying that I had just imagined things.

 This is not a poem although maybe one day it will be. I was walking up my road the other day and this thought came to my mind. It was dark and the road I live on is curvy with a cliff on one side and a steep bank on the other making it darker then it actually is. Making you wonder what is on the bank or at the bottom of the cliff. When I got home I put together this little but of inspiration.  Narrow the road I did travel. Old and gray it 'twas. Full of twists and turns And weird old trees. Up it took me, deep into A forest I'd never explored. I followed it. knowing not what to expect. It was quiet and had an eerie feel. The trees all seemed green. The farther I went the darker and gloomy Everything became. I began to jump At any little sound. A rustle, crack, snap, or tap Made me look around. Yet still I followed it Despite all my fear. The trees now all seemed dead And were gray shadows. My gut told me to stop But I did not take heed. Still I w...
