Blistered and Sore

As the sun beat down on my pores I paid no attention to what was in store.  Now my body is blistered and sore  From the fun I had off shore.  Written by Evelyn Creon

River Greenway

Image
Now that May has passed by, I bring a little present from the beginning of my relationship with my husband. I went and visited the first place we went when we first started our relationship, and I was finally able to put into words a memory of us.  I once knew this path,  On a mid-summer evening. A cover band downtown was singing While my lover and I walked  The river greenway.  We wandered off the path  Down a little trail, That led us to a broken boardwalk  There we sat till dusk  Watching the river as we talked.  The river sang a gentle song  And the birds and insects joined along. We shared our first kiss  On the riverbank, So awkward it was.  People said it would be romantic  And it probably could've been  If I hadn't been so nervous  Wanting it to end.  Later he told me  It was the best kiss he'd ever had.  While in the back of my head  I didn't ...

DesignEvo: Blog Review

Image
I recently had a friend reach out to me giving me the opportunity to create a new logo for my husband's handyman business. I used DesignEvo which is the same free logo website that I used to create my blog logo. I absolutely LOVE this website!     DesignEvo  gives you over 10,000+ free prefessional grade designs, along with all sorts of tips and tutorials  on their blog. They can be used on a desktop or mobile phone. A verity of icons and fonts to choose from. They also have a free app that can be downloaded from google play store. They do not provide cross-platform options, (it is only an android app.) They have two different plans: the free plan offers use of the platform, but you won't have as many download options. Premium plan is a one time payment per logo and you get all the download options. Both plans have high quality download options such as SVG, PNG, PDF.....    They are easy to use and pretty down to earth. I would recomend ...

Battle Against Sin

Image
We live in a broken world  Torn apart by sin.  Everywhere we turn, We can see it seeping in.  It is on our screens,  Our town and city streets,  In our schools and government,  And everywhere we meet.  It is a never-ending pest  That crawls up from the cracks. We battle it every day  Knowing only God can win  The battle against sin.  Written By Evelyn Creon

April's Spring

Image
A gentle breeze hit me Warming my chilly arms and reassuring my heart That sunny spring season is coming.  The brisk grass made way for my feet   And with each step, I sank into the soft soil.  Flowers had begun bursting forth from their earthy winter homes ,  And with every subtle movement, my eyes watched in admiration. Birds ruptured the sky with their songs ,  Amusing my aching ears.  Spring's aroma could finally be smelled   Announcing spring's arrival on the horizon.  In deep breaths, I tried to breathe it all in. Wishing for a halt in time While I enjoyed the beauty of the moment.  Written By Evelyn Creon

Two Worlds

Image
I missed last week's blog post due to some unexpected health issues that completely skewed my ability to use my brain in any capacity. I also forgot to have a backup post for emergencies like last week. So instead of stressing about a blog post, I just pushed it off and decided to start back up this week.      Today's poem is about how I am feeling about the idea of being a mother (my all-time dream job).  I am torn between two worlds. One of motherhood and one of not. In one aspect, I'm a mother carrying her child Yet in another, I am not because I don't have all the responsibilities That a mother should have. My dream of being a mother has come And now I am waiting on the bench. Preparing for a child, and free of all the obligations  Which comes with the title "mother." Am I a mother? The answer is yes. Do I feel like a mother? No, I do not.  So, I'm torn between two worlds. Written by Evelyn Creon ...

Let's Compare

Image
Today I opened up my old writing notebooks looking for inspiration. Out of my 11 books, I found something that hit me hard in book #1. It gave me a glimpse into my 12-13-year-old self and how I used to cope with life. I essentially lived in my head. I decided to rewrite the piece from the view of my 20-year-old self. I'll show you the original and the one I wrote today.  12-13-year-old self:  "I feel so happy in my mind,  And I can't understand why.  I am so excited in every way To be free and happy. The days are bright and I am light And glad to be a part of them.  But when I'm sad I feel so bad  The days just drag me down. The days are gloomy to see me now That I am now downhearted."  20-year-old self: I feel so happy in my mind, Hiding from my daily life.  It seems so freeing at the present, Then later sad and unrealistic.  Days in my mind seem bright and light  Until reality sets in.  I felt so happy in...

Our Own

Image
Our cozy apartment was a stepping stone. One that fit our needs, And that I turned into our home.  The house we now reside in, Is another stepping stone, That I can't wait to make our own.  Written by Evelyn Creon

Close your eyes,  Let's pretend  We're close together, So when we're far apart  We can close our eyes and smile.  Written by Evelyn Creon

Today is My Day!

Image
Today I did a thing, I haven't done in a while.  I put myself first when the sun rose. I read a couple books, washed my hair,  Cleaned my room, and did my nails.  Today I face the world With a grateful, and happy outlook on life. Tomorrow might be different, and that is alright.  Today, I woke up and told the world,  That, "Today is my day!"   Written by Evelyn Creon

Happy Valentine's Day

Image
Since Valentine's Day was yesterday, I am going to do something a little different. I have wedding photos I'd like to share with my readers.      A little backstory: I got married last August in one-hundred-degree weather. It was my dream wedding, everyone that came said, they felt welcome and enjoyed themselves. One of my amazing friends was my wedding coordinator so I didn't have to worry about a thing. I was able to completely unplug the entire day, had no sense of time whatsoever (my maid of Honor was amazing and stayed on top of the time.) The woman that made my cake and arranged all my flowers, made her first official wedding cake for my parents 21 years ago. Big thank you's to all of my relatives, they set up the entire wedding and made all the food.      I could not have asked for a more memorable wedding and moving away party ever. It was such a blessing to be able to have all the important people in my life there.  ...

Dream of Youth

Image
"Do you ever dream?"  A little girl with a basket asked me one day.  "Once upon a time I think. Life doesn't have time  For such childish games, So I haven't dreamed in a while."  "I dream all the time,"  The girl announced,  "That I am on an adventure!  Whenever life tries to drag me down  I pretend I'm growing flowers."  "What type of flowers do you grow?"  The little girl smiled with joy.  "Flowers that spread love, peace,  Laughter, happiness, and thankfulness.  Flowers from alien planets,  Gems, and beautiful memories. The flowers I grow make people happy,  And you seem to need a couple." The girl pulled two flowers from her basket And put it in my grubby old hands.  My wrinkled old face smiled, As the girl skipped down the street.  "Oh, the joys of being young again." I whispered under my breath.  Written By Evelyn Creon

Exoplanet HD 189733 b

Image
Rains of terror  A deadly planet sixty-three light-years away.  A pretty blue sphere that looks like earth, But death within it reigns.  A Jovian planet, no known life, And thirty-seven moons.  Over one-thousand degrees Fahrenheit  Day and night, too hot for me and you.  It orbits its K-type star  Every two point two days. While it rains molten glass  That is dangerously blown sideways.  To you who see this planet  Its beauty is supreme.  To you who land on it  A treacherous death it would mean. Do I Write?

Image
"Do I write?" I ask myself, Drawing pictures in blue ink.  Surrendering this blank page  Is that what my heart seeks? "Do I pick up the pen After all the time spent away?" Release the lock on my heart  And give it to the world today.  "Yes" is the answer, for it brings me joy  While relieving me of pain.  So yes, I'll write or at least start To put my words on this page.  It doesn't have to be perfect,  It doesn't have to be exact  I only need to go for it  And watch the rest unwrap.  Too long I've waited, Not sure what to write;  When all that was needed Was to give my pen life.  Poetry makes me happy; The rhythm, the rhyme,  The emotions you empty  Showing your true inside.  I miss the powerful feeling; Of letting the pen flow,  Watching it take its course  With no knowledge of where it will go.  Written by Evelyn Creon

Hello, My Readers!!!

Image
Welcome 2022     This past year in a half has been full of life-changing events. My life got super crazy in mid-August of 2020. I moved out, worked two jobs, learning how to be in a  long-distance relationship; While traveling to Minnesota and back and forth from Washington state and Indiana, so I had to drop something, and that something was my blogging and writing.    When 2021 hit, I thought maybe I'll to get back into writing, and although I did a little, it ended up taking a back burner for the rest of the year. I got engaged in February, began to plan the wedding. In May my fiance almost died in a car accident. When July arrived, my fiance had healed of all his injuries. August, we had the wedding in Washington, packed up all my stuff to move to Indiana, our honeymoon was in Florida. September, I got a new job, and all my stuff was supposed to be delivered to Indiana so I could officially get moved in, but God had other plans. When October ca...
